We (Tax Enquiry Company Limited) provide a technical support service to individuals, partnerships and companies who have received notification from HMRC (Revenue & Customs) that their personal and/or business tax affairs are formally subject to examination under the Taxes Acts. This is formally known as a Tax Enquiry. Such cases can be prolonged and can often be a source of considerable stress to the taxpayer.

Tax Enquiry Company Limited deploys a team of tax consultants to undertake work on Tax Enquiry cases. We do this throughout the UK. If you need our technical support, one of our consultants will assist you with all aspects of your case until it is formally closed. If you have an accountant of your own, please let us know? Our consultant will then work with him or her in order to achieve the best possible outcome for you.

Our consultant may ask searching questions regarding the circumstances and background which have led to the Tax Enquiry being started by HMRC. We encourage clients to adopt a positive and open attitude towards the consultant because that is more likely to offer a quicker and less costly conclusion to your case. Our consultant is your personal consultant for the duration of the Tax Enquiry. Our aim is always to minimise the overall amounts of tax, interest and penalty cost to you upon final settlement of the case.

At the outset you will be invited by our consultant to sign a personal "Letter of Engagement", and also in some cases an HMRC authority for us to act notice. The Letter of Engagement sets out the parameters of responsibilities and expectations of both parties. If you already have an accountant, the Terms of Engagement will be restricted to the Tax Enquiry only in most cases. Our company will not be providing any ongoing annual personal or business tax service beyond the closure of your case.

Tax Enquiry Company is here to assist you with your Tax Enquiry. We therefore expect clients to be open and honest in all dealings with our tax consultants. This is important because it may often lead your case to a quicker and less expensive conclusion in tax, interest and penalty costs. Your consultant will in advance of any work undertaken advise you of proposed hourly fee rates for professional services rendered on your behalf. That rate will be agreed between the tax consultant and the client before work commences.
