Tiling Contractor - The thing which I often recall being of great relief was the feeling that although I was under investigation by the Revenue, I was also an invisible man, and Jackie was an invisible wife. From the start of our case TE told us that they would not let us be interviewed by the two tax inspectors who were examining our property accounts and our limited company accounts. I had done something really foolish in the previous summer. I agreed with a headmaster of a local primary school that I would re-tile the girls' and boys' toilets as a cash job during closure of the school that summer. The headmaster was somebody known to me for some years and of course he liked the idea of saving the school some money. Well, he did exactly that. He saved money and my company was under investigation for 14 months. In the circumstances it was tremendous that TE protected us from direct contact in any form with the two tax inspectors. They said that this was something we were paying them a fee for, and the outcome was not too bad at the end. We did one single cash job and the tax inspectors spent months trying to prove that we actually did many more cash jobs. TE can be determined ..... thank goodness!
